About this adventure
Winter Lodge runs a purely recreational skating school: instructors move children up when they are ready, in a relaxed atmosphere, rather than pushing for fast progress. Youth Basic Skills classes for ages 5–10 meet for 30 minutes once a week, with rental skates included and free practice time in the public session that follows; levels run from Beginner and Pre A through A–D (outside and inside 3-turns, mohawks and edges). Older kids can move on to Pre Freestyle Skills (ages 9–17), and there are hockey, power skating and teen classes. The Parent & Tot class for ages 3–5 meets Fridays 1:00–1:45 pm with rental skates for one child and one parent; parents don't need to know how to skate, and strollers are welcome. Gloves are required and helmets are required for beginners. Classes are taught on the indoor lesson rink. Create a family account online before enrolling.
