Part of the Stroum JCC's Hanukkah at the J series: make a homemade menorah from materials found at home and enter it in the J's lobby display. Entrants must be over age 6. Rules: eight candles plus a separate shamash (helper candle), no larger than one foot high by one foot wide, and a short statement about your inspiration or theme. Reserve a spot online, then drop off the menorah at the SJCC by 5 pm on December 3; late entries are not accepted. Entries are displayed and open for public voting December 3–11, and winners are featured on the SJCC website. A good at-home project for school-age kids during the weeks before Hanukkah, which begins December 4.
