Walks cover about 1.5 miles in 2 hours through evergreen forest and open vistas; snowshoes are provided by the park for the walk. First-come, first-served walks are usually offered Saturdays and Sundays from late December through March, starting at 11:00 am and meeting inside the Jackson Visitor Center near the information desk; sign-ups begin one hour before and all participants must be present. Limited to 25 people, eight years old or older. Bring suitable boots, warm layers, hat, mittens, sunscreen and sunglasses. The park's Winter Recreation page lists '2026-27 Winter Programs'; the Paradise Sledding Area did not open in 2025-26 and its 2026-27 status is not yet posted. Tire chains must be carried Nov 1-May 1; the Longmire gate closes nightly.
