St. Peters opens the Christmas season with its 37th annual Tree Lighting Ceremony at City Hall on Friday, Dec. 4, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. The evening brings live holiday music from the Childbloom Guitar Program of St. Charles County and Lindenwood University's Voices Only, a community countdown to light the tree, family activities and treats, and the chance for children to visit and take photos with Santa Claus after the lighting. New this year is the Holly-Day Market. Its Children's Market lets kids Shop with a Cop, choosing gifts for parents and loved ones alongside St. Peters police officers, and Santa's Mailbox lets children write a letter to Santa and get a reply. The city's first Gingerbread House Contest, with an America 250 theme, displays entries in the Cultural Arts Theatre during the event; visitors vote for favorites, and votes benefit Meals on Wheels at the Mayor Tom Brown Senior Center. Attending is free. Gingerbread contest entries cost $5 each and must be registered by Nov. 30, 2026.
