Tampa Repertory Theatre and ThinkTank Theatre stage Peter and the Starcatcher in the intimate Shimberg Playhouse at the Straz Center over three November weekends. The play is the comic, music-filled prequel to Peter Pan: a nameless orphan boy, the determined young Molly Aster and a crew of pirates and sailors race across the sea to protect a mysterious trunk from the villain Black Stache, and along the way the audience learns how Peter came to fly and never grow up. A small cast plays dozens of characters with simple, inventive stagecraft, which tends to delight older children and tweens who know the Peter Pan story. Thursday to Saturday evening shows start at 7:30 p.m., and weekend matinees at 3 p.m. are the easier choice with kids.
