The Jug Bay Homeschool Nature Club at Patuxent River Park offers outdoor science classes for homeschooled children in two age groups: ages five to ten meet from 1 to 2:30 p.m., and ages eleven to fifteen from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Each class covers a different nature topic with hands-on activities, field observations and guided learning, and doubles as a chance to make friends while learning outdoors. The remaining fall dates are Wednesday, October 21 (Autumn Science, Seasonal Change and Winter Preparation) and Wednesday, November 4 (Seeds, Seed Dispersal and Plant Survival). Each class costs $6 for county residents and $8 for non-residents; families can register for a single class, and registration is required for each one. The park's Jug Bay Natural Area is at 16000 Croom Airport Road in Upper Marlboro (301-627-6074).
