Downtown Austin's annual holiday sing-along and tree lighting is listed by the City of Austin for Saturday, December 5, 2026, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm on Congress Avenue at the Old Bakery and Emporium (1006 Congress Avenue). The presenters' own page (KUT News, KUTX 98.9 and the Downtown Austin Alliance) has not yet been updated for 2026; in 2025 they billed it as a family-friendly, free event where radio personalities lead the crowd in seasonal songs — a tradition started by John Aielli in the 1980s — with free keepsake songbooks, followed by the downtown tree lighting and a stroll. Expect downtown street closures; the city lists nearby public garages and CapMetro options.
