A bilingual Spanish-English story time at Medford Public Library that tours the winter holidays of Latin America. Children and their grown-ups learn about Colombia's Day of the Candles (Día de las Velitas), how La Noche Buena is celebrated across Spanish-speaking countries, and New Year's Eve traditions such as El Año Viejo and eating twelve grapes at midnight, with singing and dancing woven through the stories. All levels of Spanish are welcome, so it suits native speakers, heritage-language families and children just starting Spanish. The program lasts an hour on a Saturday afternoon in Bonsignore Hall. Registration is recommended but not required; registering (from November 1 at 9 am) brings a reminder email a few days before.
