Wakefield Music Boosters

The Wakefield Music Boosters' holiday fundraiser is a 70-minute round-trip train ride from the Anderson Regional Transportation Center in Woburn toward Lowell and back, staged as an express run to the North Pole. On board, storytellers perform 'The Night Before Christmas', Wakefield music and drama students and alumni sing and dance, and each passenger gets a chocolate-chip cookie and chocolate milk. On the return leg Santa and his elves walk through the cars to visit every passenger, and each child receives a silver jingle bell. Pajamas are welcome. Before boarding, the station is decorated with trees, lights and oversized presents, and costumed characters such as Frosty and Rudolph pose for photos. Rides leave at noon, 2, 4 and 6 pm on one Sunday only. Seating is general admission by ride time, so arrive early (45 minutes for groups) to sit together; purchases are capped at eight tickets. Car seats are not allowed and strollers must fold or stay on the platform. The train runs in any weather and has a single restroom, so use the station's first. Tickets go on sale October 24 at noon; proceeds support performing arts in the Wakefield Public Schools.
