Downtown Statesville's annual trick-or-treat afternoon welcomes more than 1,500 children to collect candy from participating downtown businesses and organizations. Look for the official trick-or-treat poster in shop windows to know where to stop. New this year, kid-friendly games and activities are set up on the green at Broad Street United Methodist Church. The event runs two hours in the late afternoon, so it suits toddlers and young children who will not be out after dark; come in costume and bring a candy bag. The rain date is Thursday, October 29.
