Part of Daniel Stowe Conservancy's fall homeschool series, this two-hour class for students in grades 4 and 5 is led by the garden's environmental educators. Children explore how animals gather information about the world and use it to find food, avoid danger and find their way home, comparing animal senses with their own: how an owl pinpoints a sound in the dark, how a deer detects danger from far away and how insects pick up signals humans cannot sense. The class costs $15 and requires registration in advance through the conservancy's ticketing portal. A parallel session for grades 2 and 3 (Nature's Winter Survival Challenge) runs the same morning.
