About this adventure

An after-hours living history evening at Landsford Canal State Park. Visitors take a guided lantern tour along the park trail, stopping at vignettes where reenactors portray real local figures of the American Revolution and give dramatic performances about their experiences. Tours leave at 5:00, 5:20, 5:40, 6:30, 6:50, 7:10, 7:40, 8:00, 8:20 and 8:40 p.m., and visitors register for a tour time on arrival. The walk is about a quarter mile and lasts roughly half an hour on an unpaved path over uneven terrain, in low light and, after sunset, in the dark. While waiting, visitors can see presentations by the Catawba Nation at 6:00 and 7:30 p.m., a 'public house' with coffee and revolutionary discussion by White Blossom Coffee, stations with historic artifacts and blacksmithing demonstrations, and a chance to sign the Declaration of Independence, plus food trucks. The event is free and open to all, coordinated through the Chester County 250th Committee. The park asks visitors to wear hiking boots or comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing.
