Once a month the Gaston County Public Library's Main Library in Gastonia sets up a drop-in STEM center in its Story Nook for children from pre-K through 5th grade. Over a three-hour Saturday window, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., families can come and go and try hands-on science, technology, engineering and math activities at their own pace, so younger children can stay for a few minutes and older ones much longer. October's session is on Saturday, October 24. No registration is listed, and questions go to the children's staff by email.
