Waukegan's long-running Turkey Trot on Saturday, November 14 at the Greg Petry SportsPark has races for every age, from toddlers to seniors: age groups run from 13–23 months, 2–3, 4–5, 6–7, 8–10 and 11–13 years up through 14–59 and 60+, and distances range from five yards to one mile depending on the group. The first-place male and female finishers in each age group win a turkey, and every participant gets a ribbon. Entry is a donation of two cans of non-perishable food for the COOL Food Pantry. On-site check-in and registration begin at 9 am, races start at 10 am, and preregistration is preferred. Part of the GO WAUKEGAN wellness initiative.
