Garfield Park Conservatory's Creatures of the Night is an after-school evening of animal encounters and nature crafts for all ages on Wednesday, October 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. Animal experts bring live animals for kids to meet and learn about, while the conservatory's nature education teachers lead activities and crafts for every level. This year's lineup includes a University of Illinois Extension insect petting zoo, free haikus at a 'haiku happy hour', and quick portraits by a local artist. It is a gentle Halloween-week option for children who prefer bugs and bats to scares. All ages are welcome but children must come with an adult; admission is through the conservatory's reservation link.
