Highland Park opens its Day of the Dead week with a free community celebration at Jens Jensen Park on Saturday, October 24, from 3 to 6 p.m. Families enjoy music, sugar-skull face painting and family activities, and can take part in a cempasúchil (marigold) flower ceremony at the Fountain of Memories. Guests are invited to come dressed as a Catrín or Catrina for a chance to win prizes, or simply come as they are. All ages; no fee.
