Arlington Heights kicks off the holidays on Friday, November 27, with its annual tree lighting at North School Park, hosted by the park district and the village's Special Events Commission. Holiday music and dance performances start in the park's amphitheater at 4:30 p.m., followed by remarks at 5 p.m. and the countdown to light more than 100,000 tiny lights at 5:15 p.m. Hot cocoa and treats are for sale and the library's bookmobile visits. At nearby Harmony Park, Free Family Fun runs 4:30–6:30 p.m. with live reindeer, ice carving and caroling, and trolleys with Dickensian characters loop between the two parks.
