The Lake County Forest Preserves hold free Family Drop-In afternoons at the Edward L. Ryerson Welcome Center in Riverwoods on three Saturdays this fall, each from 1 to 3 pm. On October 31, Halloween in Nature introduces nature's spookiest creatures and real-life creepy crawlies through hands-on crafts and activities with fur, scales and feathers from local wildlife. On November 14, families follow a self-guided story trail about wild turkeys and make a turkey craft. On November 28, Project FeederWatch focuses on the birds that visit or live in Lake County in winter, with hands-on learning stations. Families come and go at their own pace; the drop-ins are free, an adult must supervise, and everyone meets at the Ryerson Welcome Center.
