Addams Park on the Near West Side holds a free trunk-or-treat on Sunday, October 18, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Families gather in the parking lot or field and children go from car to car, rather than house to house, collecting Halloween candy from decorated trunks. It is a contained, daylight option that works well for toddlers and young children in costume, and it is listed in the park district's youth age group. No fee is listed. Jane Addams Park is at Loomis Street near Roosevelt Road, close to the Illinois Medical District.
