About this adventure

Families walk a decorated half-mile trail at the Carlisle Visitor Center and can stop at a Wildlife Giving Tree stocked with items used to care for animals at Carlisle and other Lorain County Metro Parks sites. Donation stations for Second Harvest Food Bank are at the visitor center's Black River Room and at the start of the Children's Nature Discovery Trail. On selected evenings inside the same run, the visitor center adds balloon twisting, a Santa shop with a simple craft and gift-wrapping help for young shoppers, Santa nights, and Little Green Choo rides. Those Santa nights and train rides are separate records because they have their own dates. Balloon twisting is listed for Wednesday evenings December 2, 9, 16, and 23, 6:30–8:30 p.m., with no separate fee. The Santa shop is listed November 27 and 28 and December 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, and 19, 5:30–8:30 p.m. Outdoor programs are weather-dependent. The mile-long drive-through at the equestrian center is a different entrance.
