About this adventure
The West Woods is a 956-acre Geauga Park District park protecting the sandstone ledges of Ansel's Cave, Silver Creek, wetlands and mature forest, with ten trails totaling 8.15 miles. Its nature center is a family favorite for the large wildlife-feeding area visible through the windows and its hands-on interpretive displays. Ansel's Cave itself is closed to casual visitors, but naturalists lead seasonal programs there; stay on the trails. The park's name comes from an 1885 story, The Young Sugar Makers of the West Woods.
