Brass and Jazz in the Park returns to Mattie Nash-Myrtle Davis Park in West Dallas for its sixth year on Saturday, November 7, 2026, from 1 p.m. It's a free community festival celebrating the music and traditions that connect Dallas and New Orleans. This year it honors Dallas-raised trumpeter Roy Hargrove, a two-time Grammy winner and graduate of Booker T. Washington HSPVA. Four jazz bands play trumpet-led sets. There's also jazz dance, New Orleans brass, Black Mardi Gras Indians, Louisiana food and family art activities for children. The afternoon ends with a traditional New Orleans Second Line parade led by Grand Marshal Michelle N. Gibson and the Big Easy Brass Band, which families can join. It's free, but you need to RSVP on the event page.
