The Fort Worth Zoo runs afternoon classes for home-schooled children ages 6 to 11 roughly twice a month during the school year. The 2026–2027 series has an insect theme: each class combines a live animal presentation with art and science lessons on topics such as dragonflies, butterflies, bees, wasps and ants, types of pollination, soil pollinators and decomposers, food chains and webs, insect predators and insect homes. Classes run from 1:30 to 4 p.m. and cost $50 each, with a 10 percent discount for Zoo members. Families register through the Zoo's new online system, which requires creating a family profile before booking individual dates.
