About this adventure
The annual Jeffco Mineral Show fills the exhibit halls at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds for three days with more than 20 vendors selling minerals, fossils, gemstones and crystals. Admission is free and the organizers pitch it to rock-loving kids as much as collectors: families can browse specimens, ask vendors where pieces come from, and crack open a geode to see what is hidden inside. It is an easy one- to two-hour outing for school-age rock hounds; bring a little spending money if your child will want to take home a geode or fossil.
