A marionette version of The Wizard of Oz by Frisch Marionettes, staged at the Detroit Institute of Arts over Thanksgiving weekend. Expertly crafted string puppets, expressive choreography and an original score inspired by American musical traditions tell Dorothy's journey to the Emerald City — an easy first theatre experience for young children. Performances at 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday; the DIA lists it as free and family-friendly, with general admission free for Wayne, Oakland and Macomb residents.
