Heilmann Recreation Center, 19601 Crusade, runs the longest recreation-center party on the Halloween in the D list: 4 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2026. Detroit Parks and Recreation says participating centers offer haunted houses, carnival games, face painting, DJs and more, so families can also drop in after neighborhood trick-or-treating. Call the center at (313) 224-9334 for the exact schedule. The celebration is free and part of the city's Rising Higher Halloween program, which this year groups ScareFest, trunk-or-treats and recreation-center events into one citywide celebration.

What was checked & what still needs confirmation
All Halloween in the D sites are listed on one City of Detroit page (curl, read 2026-10-21); 'free' comes from the program text ('safe, fun, and free experiences'). The page's sign-up link is for volunteers and participating partners; no family registration is mentioned. ZIP not printed.
