Kick-off of Detroit's Halloween in the D week. Detroit Parks and Recreation hosts ScareFest, an annual Halloween festival at Palmer Park, with a haunted trail, thrill rides, laser tag, face painting, food trucks and candy giveaways. The event is free. Free shuttles pick families up at four parking locations: 1441 W. Seven Mile Rd. (Detroit Police 12th Precinct), 1313 W. Seven Mile Rd. (Detroit Exploration and Nature Center), 17400 Second Ave. (The Ark Detroit Ministries) and 17160 Pontchartrain Blvd. (lot next to Menjo's). Halloween in the D is a citywide public-safety and community-engagement initiative that the city says reaches more than 30,000 Detroit residents and families each year.
