Cost

$35 per skater; includes skate rental, off-ice preparation, 30 minutes on-ice instruction and admission to the following public session. Private lessons: 15 min $20, 30 min $35, 45 min $50 (plus admission).

Weekend group lessons at The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center teach skating fundamentals in two levels. Group B is for first-time skaters, toddlers and anyone still learning to stop, glide on one foot or skate backward; Group A is for returning skaters who can already do those things and may start on beginner spins and jumps. Each lesson includes skate rental, 15 minutes of off-ice preparation (skate fitting, warm-up and safety instruction) and 30 minutes of on-ice teaching, and the price also covers the public skating session that follows, so a child can keep practicing right after class. Saturday lessons run before the 10 a.m. session and Sunday lessons before the 1 p.m. session. Pick the group that matches the skater's current ability, since the two groups follow different plans and times are not interchangeable. Private lessons (15, 30 or 45 minutes) can also be requested during public sessions.
