About this adventure

More than 1,600 acres of beach, tidal marsh, maritime hammock and ancient sand dunes on Anastasia Island, just across the bridge from downtown St. Augustine. The park has 4 miles of protected shoreline for swimming and beachcombing, and the calm waters of Salt Run are good for spotting wading birds such as roseate spoonbills from a canoe or kayak. The Ancient Dunes Nature Trail winds through the hammock, where painted buntings and warblers are common. Anastasia Watersports rents bicycles, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, sailboats and canoes, and the Island Beach Shop and Grill sits at the end of the main park drive. The campground's 139 sites are a short walk from the beach.
