About this adventure

A large city-run oceanfront park in Atlantic Beach with 1.5 miles of sandy beach (including The Poles, Northeast Florida's best-known surf spot), a 60-acre freshwater lake for fishing, kayaks, pedal boats and canoes, and more than 20 miles of trails that range from family rides to hard-core mountain biking. The campground store, run by Adventure Kayak Florida, rents kayaks and mountain bikes and sells snacks and supplies. A kids' splash park operates from the first weekend in May to the first weekend in October (10 a.m.–7 p.m., no lifeguards), so it is closed for the winter. Picnic areas and group sites can be reserved, and the park has tent sites, RV sites and cabins. Swimming is not allowed in the lake; skateboards and scooters are not permitted in the park.
