About this adventure
Johnson County's Theatre in the Park moves indoors for the holidays with a stage version of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer at the Johnson County Arts & Heritage Center in Overland Park. Sam the Snowman narrates the familiar story: Rudolph hides his glowing nose, teams up with Hermey the elf who would rather be a dentist, meets prospector Yukon Cornelius, visits the Island of Misfit Toys, faces the Abominable Snow Monster and finally guides Santa's sleigh through a storm. The show is rated G and runs about 1 hour 15 minutes, a manageable length for younger children. Fourteen performances run December 5–23, with weekend matinees at 11am, 2pm and 5pm and weeknight shows at 7pm the week before Christmas. Tickets are sold through the theatre's OvationTix page.
