Santa Paws in the Park is a free KC Parks holiday tradition at Loose Park for families and their dogs. Children can line the route or walk their leashed pup in a pet parade around the Loose Park Rose Garden led by KC Wolf and Santa, then watch the holiday costume contest with prizes. From 1:15 to 3 p.m. there are photos with Santa, holiday photo backdrops and props, a pup cup treat bar, pet services information booths, a holiday paw art activity, appearances by KC Wolf and the Chiefs Cheerleaders, and complimentary coffee or hot chocolate. A Furever Tree in the park honours pets that have passed. Parade staging is at 12:45 p.m. on the Mall area in front of the Garden Center, with the parade at 1 p.m. and the costume contest at 1:15 p.m. on the Mall area stage. Admission and activities are free for everyone; dogs must stay leashed at all times. It is an easy outing for families with or without a dog who want a festive afternoon outdoors.
