An Ocean Institute naturalist leads a tidepool hike into the rocky Marine Protected Area directly behind the Ocean Institute, where families search for snails, crabs, sea stars and other tidepool animals; winter is the best season for tidepooling. Moderate difficulty, 1–1.5 mile round trip over rocky, uneven and slick terrain. Closed-toed, closed-heeled sturdy shoes are required; sunscreen, light layers and water recommended.
