About this adventure

Bots & Bolts is a one-day robotics celebration at Discovery World on the Milwaukee lakefront, with hands-on robot activities spread through the museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children can snap together Cubelets modular robot blocks to build their own inventions, draw a path for Tracer Bots and watch the little robots follow it using optical sensors, and steer programmable Sphero balls through a driving challenge. The Doodle Studio has robot-inspired art projects for kids who would rather draw, and a robotics scavenger hunt (pick it up at the front desk) sends families looking for examples of automation and engineering in the exhibits. Visiting teams from Lunabotics, Casa Drift and Marquette Eagle Racing show their machines, including a mini rover showcase about how robots tackle problems on Earth and in space. Activities suit curious preschoolers with help and elementary and middle school kids most of all; teens interested in engineering can talk with the college teams. The activities are part of a regular museum visit, so plan on general admission.
