About this adventure
Carter House, built in 1830, was a working farm that ended up in the middle of the Battle of Franklin on November 30, 1864; the house and outbuildings still show the scars. The Battle of Franklin Trust runs 60-minute classic guided house tours through the day for walk-in visitors, usually every 30–40 minutes, plus 90-minute options including a battlefield tour, an extended house-and-grounds tour, a Founding-to-Civil-War tour and a tour focused on the people enslaved at Carter House. Expect a possible 30–40 minute wait for the next tour. Combination tickets with Carnton and Rippa Villa are sold online.
