About this adventure
Metro Parks' "Leave the Leaves" Day celebrates the value of fallen leaves, hosted this year at Shelby Bottoms Nature Center. Fireflies, butterflies, moths, soil, turtles and snakes all depend on an insulating, nutrient-rich blanket of leaves through the winter, and the day shows families why and how to let leaves stay on the ground. Expect crafts and live critters to meet, with drop-in activities from 10 am to 2 pm for all ages. No registration is needed, so it is an easy stop for families with toddlers through teens, and a good start to a fall walk along the riverside greenway.
