Newark's Brick City Run Club hosts a free Thanksgiving morning mile on Raymond Boulevard, organized with the City of Newark and the Newark City Parks Foundation. Every option is one mile long: a Newark Community Mile, an untimed Turbo Turkey mile for people who just want to move before dinner, and a separate Kids Run so children have their own start. Check-in opens at 8:00 a.m. and the runs begin at 9:00 a.m. There is no entry fee, but the club asks participants to bring food or toiletry donations for neighbors in need. Free registration for the Kids Run opens on November 1 and the adult miles open on November 3, so sign up then to hold a spot.
