About this adventure

Mahopac Public Library in Putnam County holds its annual gingerbread-house-building evening for families in the library's Community Room. The library supplies plenty of graham crackers, candy canes, hot cocoa, holiday music and ideas; families bring their own frosting, candy and imagination, plus an empty milk carton or other small box to use as the base (or build a house from scratch). It is a short, after-school session of about 45 minutes, so it suits children from preschool age up who can stay focused on one project, and everyone goes home with their own creation. The program is aimed at families with children ages 3 and up. Registration is required and opens on Monday, November 9 at 10 am through the library's online calendar; library policy asks that children in fifth grade and under stay with a responsible adult in the building.
