Downtown Sanford's Holiday Parade of Lights rolls along a one-mile route on a Saturday evening in December with illuminated floats, decorated vehicles, dance groups and marching bands from local schools, businesses and community organizations. Families line the route downtown to watch; children love the lit-up floats after dark. The parade starts at 6 p.m. 1st Street closes to traffic from Mellonville Avenue to Elm Avenue starting at 1 p.m., and cars parked on the route must be moved before then to avoid towing. Can't make it? The city livestreams the parade on YouTube.
