New Castle County's Rockwood Park & Museum lights the 1800s garden trails around its Victorian mansion with a free, spooky lighting display every night for most of October and through November 1. The county describes it as family-friendly: visitors walk one of the region's oldest private gardens after dark, take in Rockwood's haunted reputation, and this year look out for a special alien surprise along the route. There is no ticket and no set start time, so families can come any evening between 7 and 11 pm and walk at their own pace. The terrain is uneven at night, so wear sturdy shoes and bring a flashlight for small children.
