On Thanksgiving eve, Ranger Shaun leads an evening hike from the San Tan Trailhead Staging Area at San Tan Mountain Regional Park to help everyone build an appetite for the next day's feast. The two-hour outing starts at 6 p.m., so it ends after dark: a family with school-age children who walk well will enjoy the cool desert evening and the holiday spirit. A water bottle and closed-toe shoes are required, and a flashlight or headlamp is sensible for the return. No pets. The group is limited to 20 people; register by calling the San Tan Nature Center with your name, phone number and number of people. Registration closes on November 23, and the centre keeps a waiting list.
