The Saturday after Thanksgiving, Ranger Shaun hosts a calm, drop-in wildlife watch on the Nature Center patio at Estrella Mountain Regional Park in Goodyear, pitched as a breather from the holiday chaos. Families can come and go any time during the two-hour window to watch and learn about the birds and other wildlife around the nature centre; no registration, experience or equipment is needed and all ages and skill levels are encouraged. Bring binoculars or field guides if you have them, plus a warm layer for the early morning. It works well for children who like spotting animals but are not up for a long hike. No pets.
