About this adventure

Wake County's first county park, a 215-acre site beside a 520-acre lake between Morrisville and Cary. Little kids have a Tot Lot for ages 2–5 and a Kids Lot for ages 5–12 (not staff-supervised). The short Old Beech Nature Trail is a self-guided environmental loop from young mixed forest to older bottomland forest, with a brochure at the trailhead kiosk, and the 6-mile Lake Trail circles the lake in about 2.5–3 hours. Families can fish with a borrowed rod through the free Tackle Loaner Program (register at the park office or Boat Rental Facility), picnic, rent boats in season and play volleyball. Mountain-bike trails have been closed since June 2025, and the fishing pier and platform are closed for repairs September to November.
