The largest visitor center in the Big Bear Valley, on the north shore of Big Bear Lake in Fawnskin, operated by the Southern California Mountains Foundation in partnership with the San Bernardino National Forest. Opened in 1998, it offers exhibits, a gift shop, Adventure Passes and information, weekly programs and eco-tours, and special events such as outdoor concerts. Normal business hours are Thursday-Monday, 9 am-4 pm. The Nature Discovery Zone, the first Nature Explore outdoor classroom in the National Forest system, is an outdoor play-and-exploration area for children ages 2 to 7, open to the public Thursday-Monday. The Foundation's events calendar showed no dated programs for fall 2026 at the time of review.
