About this adventure
San Bernardino Valley College's George F. Beattie Planetarium, open since 1977, holds free public shows on Friday evenings, generally twice a month during the school year. Each evening runs about an hour: a 20-minute planetarium show, a 20-minute live star presentation under the dome and 20 minutes of questions, and when the weather allows, free stargazing and telescope views outside afterwards. The 75-seat theater uses a rare vintage Spitz-Goto star projector with a multimedia system, and rotating science exhibits are on display, which makes it a good first planetarium visit for school-age children and curious teens. Doors open at 7 pm; parking in Student Lot 10 is suggested. Seating is limited, so arrive early, and check the page before going: the October 23, 2026 show was cancelled.
