The Western Science Center in Hemet marks International Archaeology Day on Saturday, October 17, 2026. From 10 am to 1 pm, the Mt. San Jacinto College Anthropology Department hosts hands-on archaeology activities, flintknapping (stone-tool making) demonstrations and a museum scavenger hunt for visiting families. The program takes place inside the museum, so regular admission fees apply; the museum itself is open 10 am to 4 pm that day, leaving time to see the mastodon and fossil exhibits afterwards. Best for school-age children curious about how scientists study the past.
