Cathedral City turns its downtown into a winter playground for Snowfest, an afternoon and evening of holiday fun built around 12 tons of real snow. Kids can play in the snow, pose for photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus, ride the 'Snow-Fest Express' trackless train, make something at the Elf Workshop and enter the kids' ugly sweater contest. The mayor and Santa light the city tree at a tree lighting ceremony during the event. Admission is free. It runs from 4 to 8 p.m., so families can come for the snow in daylight and stay for the lighting. SnowFest is presented by Comfort Air.
