The City of Lincoln Recreation Department runs its 9th annual Huffin' for the Stuffin' Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning at Twelve Bridges Park. Children ages 4 to 7 can run the Kids Donut Dash, a 0.17-mile dash that starts at 8:00 am. Places in the dash are limited, and it typically sells out. Ages 8 and up run or walk the timed 5K fun run on the Twelve Bridges park and trail route, starting at 8:30 am. Plan to arrive by 7:45 am to park and reach the start area. Announcements begin promptly at 8:00. Finishers who register by November 1 get a race shirt and finisher award, and the top three get awards. Registration closes November 23, with packet pick-up on the Tuesday and Wednesday before the race. Proceeds go to the City of Lincoln Recreation Scholarship Fund, which helps families in need pay for recreation programs.
