Sutter Street Theatre's Family Series stages Washington Irving's spooky classic The Legend of Sleepy Hollow in Katheryn Schultz Miller's adaptation, directed by Allen Schmeltz, at its small theater in Historic Folsom. The story follows the bumbling schoolteacher Ichabod Crane, Katrina Van Tassel and Ichabod's brutish rival Brom Bones, with six storytellers keeping the action moving and the headless horseman's ride saved for the finale. The theater rates the show G, lists no content warnings and keeps it to 60 minutes, which makes it a gentle first taste of Halloween-season theater for young children. Remaining performances are Saturdays and Sundays at 1:00 p.m. through November 8, 2026 (October 24–25, October 31–November 1 and November 7–8). Tickets are sold through the theater's online box office, and Family Series Flex Passes (4 or 8 tickets) can be used across the season, including the December holiday show A Winnie-the-Pooh Christmas Tail. Box office: (916) 353-1001.
