About this adventure

Rocklin's community gingerbread contest takes over the Rocklin Event Center ballroom on Thursday evening, December 10. Families, friends and neighbors build a gingerbread creation at home, from scratch or from a store-bought kit, around one of three themes (Our Neighborhood, Winter Wonderland or My Dream House) and drop it off by 6:30 PM. Categories cover Little Builders (families with children 9 and under), Master Builders (10 and up) and Dream Team Builders (groups of three or more); every part must be edible and no larger than 24 by 24 inches. People who aren't entering can come as Sweet Spectators to admire the entries and vote for People's Choice. On site there are gingerbread kits for building on the spot (one per group, while supplies last), a kids' craft area, holiday music, and hot cocoa and cookies for sale. Winners get medals, announced around 7 PM. Admission is free, but builders and spectators all need to RSVP on Eventbrite.
